bekal fort is the largest and preserved fort in kerala. the bekal beach which is behind the fort is being developed into an interntional destination. The fort belonged in ancient times to the kadampa dynasty and later came under the kolathiri rajas. Still later in the 18th century tipu sultan captured it.  ... . .Its about 16 km south of the national highway from kasaragod town. access by air .The nearest airport is at mangalore 50 kn away. karipur international airport kozhikode is 216 km towards south
